News Notes

Define “Broadcast Journalism” in 1-3 sentences.

Journalism--- current events that are newsworthy.
Broadcast--- delivering or sharing current events that are newsworthy via radio, television, or the inthernet.








List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness.



TITLE DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE

1. Timeliness- we care about the current things.

 Ex. weather

2. Significance- event that impacts a number of people.

  Ex. the war.

3. Prominence- important people.

  Ex. Celeberities

4. Unusualness- things that dont usually happen.

  Ex. murders, fires, crashes.

5. Proximity- care about the news thats close to you.

  Ex. weather in Germany.

6. Human interests- feel good stories.

  Ex. baby panda born at zoo
